Salt Water Doesn’t Kill Coronavirus

by W Sullivan March 18, 2020

I’ve been forwarded several Facebook articles stating that gargling with saltwater, rinsing one’s mouth with saltwater, or spraying saltwater into one’s mouth will prevent coronavirus infections by washing the virus into the stomach where the stomach acid will kill it. Not true.

If you want to search all of the medical literature to find any scientific studies to prove otherwise, the link to Pub Med is here.

If you still don’t believe me, here’s an article demonstrating the effects of salt water on coronavirus prevention.

According to this article in the South China Morning Post, and provided by Gyeonggi Province government officials, members of the River of Grace Community church in South Korea tried to disinfect the mouths of other church members by spraying saline into their mouths … using the same spray bottle … without disinfecting the nozzle. As a result, 46 members of the church including the pastor and his wife were infected with coronavirus.
